With Black Friday upon us and the festive shopping season gathering a pace like Santa’s reindeers dashing through the snow, did you know that most people in the UK spend on average, 10-hours planning and purchasing Christmas gifts, with some spending as much as 40 hours?!
It’s probably less surprising that our blue light community, who often work long, hard or irregular shift patterns, don’t have the same luxury of time.
That’s what we found in our latest research, which revealed that almost three-quarters (72%) of blue light workers don’t have as much time as they’d like to shop over Christmas, compared to just a third (34%) of the general population who feel the same way.
Although everyone is united in their favourite parts of Christmas shopping, like finding the ultimate gift (28%) and getting into the festive spirit (25%), our favoured method of shopping varies with over half (52%) of the blue light community with a preference to look online as opposed to IRL (in real life).
Seeking (bargain) festive finds
What our research does show is that the blue light community (70%) is more likely to look for ways to save money at Christmas compared to the average shopper (47%), but three-quarters (72%) said that they wished this process for finding a bargain was simpler.
