The Blue Light Card has been providing the NHS with discounts since August 2008 from its website http://www.bluelightcard.co.uk by providing the NHS with internet discount vouchers.  The service then extended in January 2009 when it provided the NHS with high street discounts, filling the void of the illusive NHS Gold Card.  Finally in November 2009 the Blue Light Card launched its cashback service, offering the NHS and Emergency Services the chance to receive cash back on their internet purchases.

The NHS has been provided with many discount services throughout the year, including nhsdiscounts and nhscashack though the Blue Light Card has brought a new aspect to NHS discounts, providing high street discounts as well as internet discounts and cashback.  The Blue Light Card has expanded its high street card and over 60 companies now accept the card.
